These are some precautions you can take to preserve your jewelry, avoiding possible damage to gemstones and metal:
Avoid wearing your jewelry during strenuous activities, which can lead to unwanted impact and irreversible damage.
Washing hands and contact with household chemicals can lead to corrosion  or damage to some metals.
Sudden temperature changes can potentially cause some gemstones to fracture.
Swimming in saltwater or chlorine can potentially harm your jewelry. Additionally, cold water can cause fingers to shrink, creating room for a ring to slip off.
Perfume, hair spray, body creams or other cosmetics can get trapped in the crevices of your jewelry, causing residue build up or creating a film, thus dulling its sparkle. Remove your rings and earrings before applying skincare products.
Extended exposure to direct sunlight can be damaging to certain gemstones.
Safety measures

From time to time you should Inspect your jewelry for defects.
Check if the mechanical parts of your jewel, such as the clasp on necklaces and bracelets, and ear posts and clips on earrings are fully functional. A malfunctioning mechanical part can result in loss or avoidable damages. In addition, ensure that all gemstones are secure in their settings and that the connections are not compromised.
Storing your diamond jewelry

Store your diamond jewellery in a dry place, away from humidity and direct sunlight. This will protect the diamond and prevent the metal that holds it from tarnishing.
Jewelry maintenance

While you are wearing your diamond rings, earrings, pendants, or bracelets, they can pick up dust and dirt. If jewellery is stored away without being cleaned, it could lead to oxidation or discolouration of the gold. Regular cleaning will also help restore the diamond’s shine.  To ensure your jewelry  lasts forever without losing sparkle, cleaning them correctly and regularly is essential.

Put them in a bowl with warm water mixed with a small amount of washing-up liquid.
Soak them for several minutes. After that, gently brush them over with a soft bristle toothbrush paying attention to the diamond’s edges and the prongs holding the stone to remove any grime build-up.
Be extra careful when cleaning eternity and half-eternity rings, engagement rings with small diamonds on the band and diamond bracelets.
After cleaning, rinse the jewelry with warm water. If you are rinsing them over a sink, make sure you close the drain.
Gently dry your diamond jewelry pieces one by one with a lint-free cloth to ensure they are completely dry before you store them away.
Never use harsh chemicals such as household cleaners or abrasives such as toothpaste to clean your jewelry, as this could damage the gold or other precious metal the diamond is set in.
